David Harbur, Founder and President

An award winning artist from a very young age, David has turned his natural artistic talent into the design and creation of custom built homes.  He uses his ability to envision space, color, balance and flow to design the structure, form and distinctive beauty of his custom home masterpieces.

David has been building homes for 20 years, 14 years in the Pagosa Springs area. He is a member of the EEBA, the Energy & Environmental Building Association, an association that promotes and continually researches a systems approach to designing and building healthy, comfortable, durable, energy efficient and environmentally responsible homes.
David has attended training in:

• Green Building Science
• Applied Building Science
• Construction Business Management
• International Builders Convention annually for education and a clear understanding of new products and methods used in the building industries.

Designing for mountain living in Pagosa Springs brings a unique set of requirements to take full advantage of your property. Positioning the home to take advantage of the views, lighting, and natural landscaping are the first ingredients for a well designed house. Snowfall, natural run-off, and winter temperatures are a few of the many considerations in design to ensure a comfortable, durable, and efficient house.

Because of our ability to work with clients in the design process, each home becomes a unique expression of the clients’ wishes and personal experiences. Using preliminary drawing and elevations, we work together to give your home form, function, and beauty. These drawings and elevations are then transformed into a detailed set of CAD working drawings, complete with all engineering details and specs.

After your home’s design is finalized, a concise contract, detailed plans and project specifications all unite to eliminate uncertainty and clarify every aspect of the home construction process.

Alpine Design and Build focuses on making the building process as easy, fun and enjoyable as possible.  We communicate with our clients each week based on the individual needs of the customer, and the demands of the project. Much of the work on each project is self performed, allowing us better control of the quality, cost, and work flow.  We are careful to control the amount of work we commit to at any given time to ensure we are able to give proper attention to our current customers and projects underway.
